Abstract

The purpose of our system is to support children aged 5-7 in progressing from the primitive narrative stage to the chain narrative stage. In Primitive narrative stage, events are narrated in chronological order but lack cause-and-effect relationships. In Chain narrative stage, events are causally connected, logically organized, and conclude clearly. (Applebee’s narrative development, 1978) Our system enables children to engage in story generation activities through tangible interaction with an RFID-enabled sticker book and speech interaction with AI. During story generation, children arrange pre-defined event stickers in chronological order and create causal relationships between events using blank cause stickers.
