Community Lightning Exchange

Participants will briefly introduce their research interests, current challenges, and questions they hope to discuss during the workshop. This session will help seed the small-group roundtable and guided discussion.

Small-Group Research Roundtable

Small groups will identify shared research themes, bottlenecks, and questions to carry into broader discussion. Participants will use brief verbal introductions and collaborative conversation to develop the group's shared agenda.

Guided Discussion

A full-room, moderator-led synthesis will draw on themes from the lightning exchange and roundtable to identify broader open challenges in spoken dialogue systems.

Roundtable Questions

  • What research problem are you currently working on?
  • What is one technical, methodological, or practical challenge you are facing?
  • What kind of feedback or collaboration would be useful?
  • What open challenge in spoken dialogue systems deserves more attention?
  • What would meaningful progress on that challenge look like over the next year?
  • What assumptions in your current approach deserve closer scrutiny?
  • What data, evaluation, or deployment constraint is shaping your work?
  • Where could a shared resource, benchmark, or community practice make progress easier?
  • What perspective from another research area would help you think differently about the problem?
  • What concrete next step could move the conversation forward after the workshop?
